Good morning, all, and happy Memorial Day! Brigid Kennedy here, from Sports Illustrated, back with your Monday morning recap on the last few days of sports.
For my East Coasters, here’s hoping you’ve been staying dry over this dreary holiday weekend. And to my West Coasters, well, stop bragging. We get it!!!! (Forward this to a friend who will hang out rain or shine.)

GOT MILK?: Did you tune into the Indy 500 yesterday?! We sure did, and we have all of the important background for you in our since-concluded live blog. … Fever star Caitlin Clark was one of many celebrities taking part in the festivities, which, as you may or may not know, always conclude with a celebratory milk chug. … This year, Felix Rosenqvist was the one doing the drinking after beating out David Malukas by 0.0233 seconds—the closest finish in Indy 500 history. Lightning McQueen would be proud. … Malukas, meanwhile, was crushed.
SPUR-NED: God, the Western Conference finals are so good. The series is now even after the Spurs handled business at home in a dominant 103–82 win on Sunday night. Wemby had 33 points. We’ll head back to OKC for Game 5 on Tuesday. … Over in the East, the Knicks are one win away from the NBA Finals after defeating the Cavaliers in Game 3 of the conference finals on Saturday, when both teams were also graced by the presence of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. … Both superstars made sure to give back to the laypeople in the stands, too. … On the awards front, we also got word of All-NBA honors this weekend. Wemby and Rudy Gobert headline the 2025-26 Defensive Team, while Cade Cunningham, SGA and Wemby earned All-NBA first team honors, the first of Cunningham and Wembanyama’s careers.
THE REST: With Aaron Rodgers back for one final run, we took a look at the best and worst “last dances” in NFL history. … Speaking of the NFL, Giants star Abdul Carter insists he and quarterback Jaxson Dart are not beefing, despite the former chirping the latter for introducing President Trump at a rally over the weekend. … Here’s a look at how LIV Golf is planning to stay afloat. … Plus, a look at why the Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. has to pay an investment fund 10% of his career earnings.

πΊ What we’re watching tonight ... |

|
NBA Playoffs:
Knicks @ Cavaliers, Game 4—8 p.m. ET; ESPN
Are the Knicks about to sweep the Cavs? There is a very strong chance. If New York wins this game, they’re off to the Finals. If Cleveland wins, well, they’ll live to see another game.
NHL Playoffs:
Hurricanes @ Canadiens, Game 3—8 p.m. ET; TNT, truTV, HBO Max
Carolina did not play well in Game 1 of this series, but bounced back for an overtime win in Game 2. Things are now even at one game to one heading into Game 3 tonight.
WNBA:
Fire @ Liberty—8 p.m. ET; Peacock, NBC Sports
The Fire are 3–3 to kick off their inaugural season, and fresh off a win against fellow expansion team, the Toronto Tempo. The Liberty, meanwhile, are also .500 so far and in need of a win after two straight losses.
MLB:
Yankees @ Royals—3:40 p.m. ET; ESPN
Nothing screams Memorial Day like some afternoon baseball. On Monday, we’ve got the Yankees vs. the Royals on ESPN at 3:40 p.m. ET. Time to watch Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr. play ball.
Tennis:
If you’re planning to spend your Memorial Day inside and under cover (damn you, rain), friendly reminder that the French Open is happening right now. No, Carlos Alcaraz isn’t playing, but there is still plenty to watch at Roland Garros.
