In Today’s Masters in Trading: Live
Volatility is roaring back into the markets in a big way. And right now, one of our most important volatility indicators is flashing a warning – the VVIX. Regular viewers know the VVIX is what we use to measure how fast fear is changing in the broader market. It basically shows us how much volatility traders expect in volatility itself. Right now, the VVIX is sitting at 115+. And that’s a big deal for us. 110 is the absolute line in the sand. Anywhere above 110 means fear and uncertainty are only accelerating from here. And that tells us one thing: Investors are paying up for protection on protection. They’re hedging their hedges as I write to you. And they’re looking for any move below 110 to see that fear is fading. This isn't noise. This is the heartbeat of the market right now. And when panic rules the market, we pivot. This is exactly where our Masters in Trading strategy shines. Last year, we managed a series of winning options trades on volatility itself. Take our QQQ puts back in October 2025. When we opened those puts, we saw massive, unusual options activity – over 4,000 contracts changing hands with $11 million in VIX call sweeps. That told us institutions were hedging hard – just like we’re seeing right now. And then just days later, the VVIX spiked. That was our cue. We took our 100% gains and got out. That’s just one of our big wins trading on volatility in the broader market. With the VVIX driving price action and volatility across the board, I see even more opportunities to trade on the wave of fear taking hold of the markets right now.
