U.S. Attorney's Office Concludes Investigation Into Suicide During Police Pursuit 04/02/2026 08:00 AM EDT The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced today that there is insufficient evidence to pursue federal criminal civil rights or District of Columbia charges against officers from the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) and Metropolitan Police Department for a suicide that occurred during a February pursuit that resulted in the death of S.J., and fatally injured a 36-year-old District resident in Southeast Washington.  Former BIA Officer Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Lying to Investigators 04/02/2026 08:00 AM EDT Murrell Deela, a former Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) officer, pleaded guilty today to sexual abuse involving a minor and to lying to federal investigators.
