New Orleans Man Indicted for Assaulting Postal Carrier with a Deadly Weapon 02/04/2026 07:00 AM EST NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – GILBERT DARBY ("DARBY"), age 48, a resident of New Orleans, was indicted on January 30, 2026, for assaulting a federal officer, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 111(a)(1) and (b); discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A)(iii); and being a felon in possession of ammunition, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), announced U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.
