Highlights are below. 80.7 percent of workers worked full-time in 2023 07/11/2025 A total of 171.9 million people worked in the United States at some point during 2023. Among those who worked in 2023, 80.7 percent usually worked full time. Men remained more likely to work full time than women (85.8 percent versus 75.1 percent). Among the major race and ethnicity groups, Black (83.7 percent), Asian (83.7 percent), and Hispanic or Latino (81.6 percent) workers were more likely to work full time than White workers (80.1 percent).
