Alaska Underwater Sound Recordings Confirm Endangered North Pacific Right Whales Use of Historic Habitats Scientists find that Aleutian Island passes and the northern Gulf of Alaska remain key feeding grounds for this rare whale. NOAA Fisheries Accepting Comments on Spatial Planning Study to Identify Draft Aquaculture Opportunity Area Options Within Alaska State Waters A 30-day comment period is now open. We will also host two public listening sessions to gather input. Testing Methods to Minimize Herring Spawning Events on Alaska Kelp Farms Scientists teamed up to investigate how to best keep herring from spawning on kelp grown by ocean farmers in Alaska. West Coast Stranding Team Responds to More Than a Dozen Dead or Dying San Diego Dolphins in a Single Day The stranding team from NOAA Fisheries' Southwest Fisheries Science Center recovered 16 dead dolphins from San Diego beaches on Sunday, April 20. These deaths add to the likely toll of a domoic acid outbreak produced by a harmful algae bloom off Southern California. Southeast Podcast—Building Futures: How GulfCorps Combines Habitat Restoration with Job Training In our final podcast, learn about the GulfCorps conservation program. It's helping local residents get training and experience restoring habitats harmed by the Deepwater Horizon spill that will help them prepare for future employment.
