| Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz announced today the release of a report on two grants totaling $800,000 awarded between 2021 and 2023 by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration (Tennessee DFA) to the Tennessee Voices for Children (Tennessee Voices) in Goodlettsville, TN. The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provided this funding to the Tennessee DFA as the State Administering Agency to make subawards to direct victim service providers across the state, including these grants to Tennessee Voices. As of July 2024, the Tennessee DFA had reimbursed Tennessee Voices $714,277. The DOJ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found that Tennessee Voices provided direct services to victims of crime. However, we found that Tennessee Voices did not submit a budget modification request for additional staff to work on its grant-funded program. Consequently, we questioned the related personnel cost totaling $11,012. The DOJ OIG made two recommendations for OJP to work with the Tennessee DFA to improve Tennessee Voices' grant management. OJP, the Tennessee DFA, and Tennessee Voices agreed with our recommendations. | | You are receiving this message because you are subscribed to OIG Reports - Office of Justice Programs (OJP) for U.S. Department of Justice.
