| We want your feedback on two draft documents! Help shape the future of advanced manufacturing for power electronics and harsh environmental materials. | | Request for Information on Next-Generation Harsh Environment Materials and Manufacturing The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) issued a request for information (RFI) on its draft High-Impact Crosscutting Opportunities for Next-Generation Harsh Environment Materials and Manufacturing Process Research, Development, and Demonstration Landscape draft. Harsh service conditions include many environments with stressors such as high temperature, corrosive chemical exposure, irradiation, and many others that put significant strains on material performance. The focus of this draft landscape is to identify the highest-impact investment opportunities for high-performance materials designed for harsh service environments. Feedback will help ensure AMMTO's investments in this space are optimally positioned to address opportunities and challenges related to electric energy production/conversion, energy storage, and energy utilization technologies. Responses to this RFI must be submitted electronically to harshmaterialsrfi@ee.doe.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 15, 2025. | Request for Information on Wide Bandgap Power Electronics Strategic Framework AMMTO is also seeking input from organizations in the power electronics and semiconductor manufacturing industry, universities, and end-users of power electronics in its draft Wide Bandgap Power Electronics Strategic Framework. The document outlines an effective strategy for growing the U.S. industry for wide bandgap power electronics by advancing materials performance and overcoming manufacturing challenges to promote technology adoption in key application areas over the next decade. Feedback will be used as input to update the draft framework and help DOE shape key decisions concerning the future of the AMMTO power electronics program and its impact. Responses to the RFI must be submitted electronically to AMMTOPowerElectronics@hq.doe.gov no later than 5:00 pm ET on Friday, April 11, 2025. | | | | |
