Home and Community Based Services Quality Assurance Project Town Hall Follow-Up
(HCBS Provider Meeting)
Thank You for Participating in the Town Hall!
On Wednesday, January 22nd, a group called Alvarez and Marsal (A&M) joined the Home and Community Based Service (HCBS) Provider Meeting to host a town hall meeting. In this town hall, A&M shared information about DHHS' HCBS Quality Assurance project and asked for your feedback.
DHHS is grateful to everyone who joined and shared ideas about how DHHS can strengthen its partnership with providers to make services safer and better. Your input is helping to make a difference in creating positive outcomes in HCBS residential settings!
If you couldn't join the live session, the recording is available on the DHHS website. You can watch the recording here.
We Want to Hear More from You!
In addition to hearing initial feedback and questions during the town hall, DHHS wants to hear more about your experiences in other settings that may be more comfortable for sharing feedback. DHHS is offering a survey and small focus groups as opportunities to hear more from you.
Survey for Providers
This survey was initially released on Friday, January 17th – thank you to everyone who has completed the survey already! All providers are encouraged to complete the survey. This survey will not collect any identifying information, such as name or email address, from respondents. This survey will ask questions related to how DHHS works with providers to make services safer and better. Your answers could help DHHS strengthen its support of providers in creating positive outcomes!
The survey will be open until Friday, January 31st, 2025. Please complete the survey as quickly as possible to ensure DHHS gets your feedback!

Survey for Direct Support Professionals
We heard your feedback during the town hall with providers that it is important to gather the feedback and experiences of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) as well. We have developed a separate survey that can be passed along to DSPs by provider agencies for their completion. We ask that all provider agencies pass this survey along to their DSPs to complete. If you are a smaller provider that is also providing direct services, please complete whichever survey suits you best.
This survey will not collect any identifying information, such as name or email address, from respondents. This survey will ask questions related to how DHHS works with DSPs to make services safer and better. Answers could help identify opportunities to continue creating positive outcomes!
This DSP-specific survey will be open until Friday, February 7th, 2025. Please pass along the survey to your DSPs and encourage them to complete the survey as quickly as possible to ensure DHHS gets their feedback!
Focus Groups
Both surveys will ask if you are interested in participating in a smaller focus group after the town hall. If you would like to share more about your experiences and ideas in a more targeted setting, the surveys will ask for your name and email address so you can be invited to a provider or DSP focus group. More information will come from DHHS about registering for the focus groups after initial participation interest is gathered!
We hope you'll join us in focus groups and share your feedback in surveys! Together, we can make home and community services better for everyone.
Please note there are other ongoing town halls and focus groups related to the Access Rule that may touch on incident management topics. This session will focus on how OADS manages reportable events in certain waiver programs, specifically:
- Section 21 (Home and Community Benefits for Members with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder) and
- Section 29 (Support Services for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder).
If you require accommodation, such as real-time transcription and captioning (CART), American Sign Language (ASL), or other language interpretation, please contact April Keyes at april.keyes@maine.gov.
