GAIN Template Header

The following GAIN reports were released on November 26, 2024.

_______

Australia: Food Service - Hotel Restaurant Institutional Annual

In 2023, Australia's foodservice industry was worth A$59 billion (US$39.1 billion). However, rising inflation and the overall cost of living have hindered its growth in 2023 and 2024. While delivery services have leveled off, consumer focus on sustainability and social responsibility is increasing. As the Australian economy stabilizes, the industry's future looks promising.

Chile: Dairy Import Procedure Report

Discrepancies between the information provided on the export certificate and the information on the label of the package in U.S. dairy products is causing recurring detentions at the ports of entry in Chile. During FY 2024, Post assisted U.S. exporters with releasing $ 2.6 million worth of dairy imports to Chile.

China: Decree 248 Product List Update - November 2024

The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety (BIEFS) updated the list of products and codes subject to Decree 248. The PRC has not notified these changes to trade partners. Between July 8, 2024 and November 20, 2024, BIEFS added 60 products and removed 78 products.

China: China Major Crop Planting Seeds Supply and Demand Forecast for 2024-2025 Released

On October 30, 2024, the National Agriculture Technology Extension Service Center (NATESC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) released its supply and demand forecast for major crop seeds (i.e., rice, corn, wheat, soybean, cotton, and rapeseed) for Marketing Year (MY) 2024/25 at the National Seed Information Exchange and Commodity Trading Fair. Although changes across different commodities exist, overall seed production remains higher than the five-year average due to good growing conditions in 2024. High beginning seed stocks and strong production suggest an oversupply of seed for many commodities in 2025.
