Fifteen members or associates of a gang that was the main supplier of fentanyl in south St. Louis have been convicted and sentenced for drug, gun and other crimes.

United States Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr., announced the conviction of Lionel Haile, age 31, of St. Francisville, Louisiana.

The Justice Department today announced charges in five cases addressing violence at New York City's federal pretrial detention facility, the Metropolitan Detention Center, (MDC), located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. These include charges against inmates for the murder of Uriel Whyte on June 7, the murder of Edwin Cordero on July 17, an attempted murder on April 27, and two violent assaults on Aug. 24 and 27. The defendants, all of whom were previously ordered detained at the MDC on other charges, will be arraigned in the coming days.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Amir Safavi Farokhi, 29, of Fishers, Indiana, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Scott H. Rash last week to over 11 months' custody for threatening to blow up school buses in Castleton, Indiana. Farokhi pleaded guilty on July 17, 2024, to one count of Making an Interstate Threat.

Tykel Wilson, 22, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced on Friday for the armed carjacking of a rideshare driver, announced U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela A Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

A Long Beach man pleaded guilty today to a federal criminal charge for participating in the daylight smash-and-grab robbery of a Beverly Hills jewelry store in 2022 in which more than $2.6 million in merchandise was stolen – and which he later displayed on Instagram.
