Three Maryland Individuals Charged For Leading Roles In International Organized Theft Ring 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT Greenbelt, Maryland – On October 7, 2024, Sindy Paola Hernandez, age 38, of Hyattsville, Maryland, Johnsie Steven Reina Hernandez, age 20, of Hyattsville, Maryland, and Edwin Gonzalez Rodriguez, age 30, of Hyattsville, Maryland, were charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen goods.  The charges involve a large-scale organized retail theft ring, wherein conspirators stole cosmetic and other products from various retail establishments and provided them to Hernandez, Reina Hernandez, and Gonzalez Rodriguez.  As outlined in the affidavit in support of the complaint, it is alleged that these individuals then shipped the stolen products to other countries, including Honduras.   Boston Man Sentenced to Over 10 Years in Prison for Attempting to Purchase Sex with Minor 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT BOSTON – A Boston man was sentenced today in federal court in Boston for attempting to pay for sex with a 14-year-old girl. Harrison County Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Charge 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT Todd Eugene Haynes, age 49, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 10 years in federal prison for the distribution of methamphetamine. According to court documents and statements made in court, Haynes sold more than 100 grams of methamphetamine in Harrison County. Seventeen Individuals Indicted Alleging A Sophisticated Nationwide Money Laundering Scheme Originating With Violent Crime In Baltimore City 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT Baltimore, Maryland – 17 individuals were indicted yesterday in a Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Homeland Security investigation involving a sophisticated money laundering scheme and illegal marijuana distribution network resulting in the seizure of over $6,000,000 and over 2000 pounds of marijuana in illegal proceeds to date.  23 Members of a Violent Gang in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Charged with Drug Trafficking and Firearms Offenses 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – On September 28, 2024, a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment charging 23 violent gang members from the municipality of Aguadilla with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, possession and distribution of controlled substances, and firearms violations, announced W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau (PRPB) Aguadilla Strike Force were in charge of the investigation of the case. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Response Team (SRT) and Guaynabo Municipal Police SRT collaborated during the arrests.  McAlester Resident Sentenced For Sexual Exploitation Of A Child 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Amanda Lynn Howerton, age 41, of McAlester, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 210 months in prison for one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.On February 5, 2024, Howerton pleaded guilty to the charge.  According to investigators, on January 22, 2023, Howerton produced a visual depiction of the sexual abuse of a child, then sold that image on the internet. His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election. Massachusetts Man Convicted of Felony and Misdemeanor Charges for Actions During Jan. 6 Capitol Breach 10/10/2024 08:00 AM EDT A Massachusetts man was convicted of felony and misdemeanor offenses related to his conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.
