| The following GAIN reports were released on October 25, 2024. _______ Argentine wheat production in marketing year (MY) 2024/2025 is estimated at 18 million tons (MMT) with exports (including wheat flour in its wheat equivalent) at 12 million tons, slightly above USDA official. Barley production in MY 2024/2025 is estimated at 4.9 MMT, slightly higher than in the previous season, with exports at 3.3 MMT, 200,000 tons lower than USDA, but 6 percent higher than in MY 2023/2024. Despite a significant cut in planted area due to last year's corn stunt attack, corn production is projected at 48 MMT, 2.5 million tons lower. Corn exports are forecast at 35 MMT. Sorghum production in MY 2024/2025 is forecast at 3.8 million tons with exports at 1.5 MMT. Rice production is forecast at 1.46 MMT with rice exports are forecast at 440,000 tons milled base. On October 27, 2022, FAS Jakarta published a report summarizing the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Service's (DGLAHS)'s new requirements for importers to register fresh food of animal origin and obtain the resulting distribution license. Since DGLAHS has recently begun to enforce these requirements, importers are now asking U.S. exporters to provide a certificate of analysis (CoA) for at least one of the required testing parameters every six months. This report is based on our assessment of information gathered from DGLAHS and local industry to help U.S. exporters comply with the CoA requirements. U.S. exporters should endeavor to meet this requirement as soon as possible to avoid jeopardizing their sales to Indonesia. Since these requirements primarily impact U.S. beef exports, this report is focused accordingly. Please note that this guidance is based on information gathered informally and may be subject to change. Taiwan imports over 135,000 MT apples annually with domestic supply less than one percent. Post expects that MY 2024/2025 Taiwan apple imports will return to 145,000 MT with domestic supply stable at 1250 MT. The United States and New Zealand are the primary suppliers, followed by Japan and Chile. In MY 2023/2024, the United States gained a 46 percent market share (64,694 MT), largely due to a temporary suspension in South African exports caused by apple moth quarantine issue and American apples are still price competitive. Rice export prices increased 2-8 percent from the previous week as exporters reportedly continued to secured rice supplies to fulfill contract shipments.
