NOAA Fisheries and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service launched a new, state-of-the-art Northeast Oyster Breeding Center in June 2024 (NOAA.) NOAA Sea Grant to Invest $8.8 million to Enhance Aquaculture Production, Capacity, and Knowledge Sharing Women oyster growers in New Hampshire, like Laura Brown of Fox Point Oysters and Krystin Ward of Choice Oysters, are part of a growing aquaculture industry in the state. Welcoming New Staff to the Aquaculture Program Anoushka Concepcion at Greater Atlantic Region Fisheries Office Anoushka recently joined NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Region Fisheries Office as a Regional Aquaculture Coordinator. Before joining NOAA, Anoushka served 14 years as an Extension Educator in marine aquaculture with the Connecticut Sea Grant Program. Celia Barroso to West Coast Region Celia recently began her new role at NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region (WCR) as the Regional Aquaculture Coordinator for California. Prior to this role, she had 12 years of experience in highly migratory species fisheries management in the WCR. Hannah Wilson to Alaska Regional Office Hannah recently joined NOAA Fisheries Alaska Regional Office as the Assistant Regional Aquaculture Coordinator. Before joining NOAA, Hannah most recently served as the Alaska Mariculture & Sustainable Fisheries Programs Director with the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation. |
