LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRANTEES

OVW invites grantees to register for the following learning opportunities in August and September:

Understanding U.S. v. Rahimi (2-part webinar)

The Battered Women's Justice Project's (BWJP) National Resource Center on Domestic Violence is hosting a 2-part webinar entitled "Understanding U.S. v. Rahimi," that examines the June 2024 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in U.S. v. Rahimi, in which the court held constitutional a 30-year-old federal law that has kept firearms out of the hands of abusers subject to certain domestic violence protection orders.

Practical Considerations - 1 p.m. ET August 28, 2024: In this webinar, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms will summarize the case and the Court's decision, as well as identify practical considerations for courts, attorneys, prosecutors, law enforcement, victim advocates, and others for implementing this domestic violence firearm prohibition in light of the Rahimi decision. Register for the webinar on Zoom

Critical Issues Forum - 1 p.m. ET September 10, 2024: The second webinar is a forum, held by the National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith and Credit, and is designed for attorneys and advocates who may have questions about how the decision impacts their jurisdictions and their work. Margaret Groban, former National Domestic Violence Coordinator for the Department of Justice, will answer questions and facilitate the dialogue. Register for the webinar on Zoom

National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Digital Equity Competitive Grants

To assist our grantees in identifying additional funding opportunities that can enhance your work, OVW encourages you to mark your calendars for 3 p.m. ET August 29, 2024 for an opportunity to learn about the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program, a funding opportunity supporting efforts to achieve digital equity.

Digital equity, which refers to the condition in which individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in the society and economy in the United States, plays an important role in NTIA's mission. For the first time, the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program includes criteria supporting digital equity projects that address online safety, harassment, and abuse, marking a significant opportunity to advance the field of digital equity for victims and survivors.

This webinar aims to provide you and your organizations with in-depth information on this program, the application process, and will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions directly to NTIA leadership.

Please submit RSVPs to the Zoom link.
