Former chief scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute sentenced for conspiring to defraud Georgia Tech and the CIA 11/01/2023 08:00 AM EDT James G. Maloney, who served as the Chief Scientist for the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), has been sentenced to federal prison for conspiring to defraud Georgia Tech and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Maloney's co-conspirators, James J. Acree and James D. Fraley, III—both of whom pleaded guilty in 2016 and cooperated with the government—were also sentenced.
