Promising: Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Practice Rated Promising for Reducing Problem Behaviors

This practice utilizes a multi-tiered system of supports designed to make schools more effective in establishing a school culture and building a behavioral supports system to improve students' behavioral, social, emotional, and academic outcomes. It involves three tiers of support, including both prevention and intervention efforts. The practice is rated Promising for reducing students' problem behaviors.

A Promising rating assigned to a practice outcome indicates, on average, there is some evidence that implementing a program encompassed by the practice will achieve the intended outcome. CrimeSolutions assigns ratings to practices based on the preponderance of evidence from meta-analyses that have assessed outcomes related to crime, delinquency, or victimization prevention, intervention, or response. Practice ratings do not consider variations in implementation or other program-specific factors which may impact the effectiveness of a specific program. Practices may be rated differently on outcomes not included here.
