OLA is seeking a DOJ attorney who performs well in a fast-paced, highly professional environment. The attorney advisor will work under the supervision of the Assistant Attorney General and will be responsible for:
Coordinating between the Department of Justice and the Congress on a wide variety of issues.
• Communicating frequently with congressional staff about the Department's interests in legislation and other congressional matters.
• Keeping Department officials apprised of the current status and outlook for congressional action on matters of interest to the Department.
• Assuring that the Department's views on issues are articulated to Congress in a timely and effective way.
• Working within the Department and Congress on oversight matters.
• Developing written views on issues based upon input from Department components and the ability to present those views to congressional staff in order to advance the Department's mission, protect the Department's equities, and promote a constructive relationship with the Congress.
Due to COVID-19, if selected, you may be expected to telework for an undefined period under the Department's evacuation authority, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Employees in this status may be notified of a requirement to report in person to the component workplace with an advance notice of not less than 30 days. Prior to a requirement to report to the workplace, employees may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the component's telework policy.
