USAO Western District of Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania

Application Deadline: September 5, 2023

The United States Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Assistant United States Attorney to develop the District's e-Litigation practices and procedures and to be responsible for leading the District in implementing standardized discovery and case-management practices, while ensuring that appropriate e-Litigation resources are utilized to effectively manage, analyze, and present case data.

The successful applicant will work to:

  • improve the use of existing tools (e.g., Eclipse, Everlaw, eZmanage, Evidence.com), and learn new tools as they become available;
  • ensure all AUSAs and support staff receive the necessary training to meet the challenges of e-Litigation and e-document management;
  • act as the USAO's primary liaison on e-Litigation issues to Department components, including EOUSA, as well as the Federal Public Defender, the Court, and other law enforcement agencies; and
  • provide technical and strategic guidance to litigating teams on the collection, review, production, and presentation of evidence.

As workload permits, the e-Litigation AUSA may assist criminal and civil AUSAs in all phases of the litigative components of their cases.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Applicants must demonstrate personal integrity, good judgment, analytical ability, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and litigation skills. In addition, applicants must be willing to follow rules and directives, and work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff, and client agencies.

All initial attorney positions are filled on a provisional 14-month basis, pending adjudication of the background investigation.

As needed, additional vacancies may be filled using this announcement.
