Patent Alert Applicants' suggested drawing figure to receive exclusive use on front page Beginning Tuesday, October 10, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will begin exclusively using the drawing figures suggested by patent applicants for the front page of patent application publications. Until then, applicants could suggest which figure should appear on the front page, but the USPTO has not always used their choice. The change in procedure is intended to streamline the process of publishing patent applications, reduce costs, and increase applicants' satisfaction. It only applies to suggestions included on a timely filed and compliant Application Data Sheet.
