USAO Western District of Wisconsin
Madison, WI
Madison, Wisconsin

Application Deadline: June 23, 2023

The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Western District of Wisconsin is looking for a highly qualified and experienced eLitigation attorney to fill a full-time position as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA).  This is not a trial AUSA position.  The selected candidate's primary duty will be to coordinate the office's eLitigation program.

eLitigation, which includes e-discovery, is fundamental to both the Criminal and Civil Divisions, and effectively managing eLitigation is critical to the USAO's success in serving the public. Recognizing this, the Department of Justice has allotted resources to focus specifically on eLitigation, including by creating this AUSA position to support the USAO's efforts in this area.

As an eLitigation AUSA, you will facilitate and coordinate eLitigation for the Criminal and Civil Divisions. Because this is a new position, you will be involved in improving processes and procedures to ensure effective intake, review, and production of discovery material, and will provide guidance, training, and support to litigators on discovery and trial presentation matters. In so doing, you will work with a team of litigation support specialists, other AUSAs, and work closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement and federal client agencies.

All initial attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis pending favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent without further competition.

Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
