Registration is Open! On-road automated vehicles (AVs) are expected to significantly influence key aspects of everyday life. However, these complex systems can pose a safety risk in the event of unexpected system performance. Therefore, industry and government agencies are looking to characterize the performance of these complex systems to mitigate risk to both the manufacturers as well as the consumers. NIST will hold a virtual workshop on Standards and Performance Metrics for On-Road Automated Vehicles (AV). This workshop builds off a previous workshop in 2022 which identified key challenges and opportunities for NIST to develop standards and performance metrics for this complex and interdisciplinary field. The output of the 2022 workshop is summarized at https://doi.org/10.6028/NIST.IR.8442. This 2023 workshop aims to connect the AV community and provide a holistic update on NIST's recent work in the area, facilitate a forum to provide feedback, and set a roadmap to maximize NIST's impact to stakeholders in the field.
