Funding Updates DOE Adds $10 Million to Notice of Intent to Support Tidal and Current Energy Funding EERE's Water Power Technologies Office announced an additional $10 million to its proposed funding opportunity from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to advance tidal and current energy systems, bringing the total funding to $45 million. This topic area will support at least one tidal or energy planning and execution project in the United States, preferably led by a community-based organization or local/municipal government entity. Renewable News DOE Announces Winners of Hydropower Operations Optimization Prize DOE announced three winners of the third and final phase of the Hydropower Operations Optimization Prize, a competition that challenges innovators to employ modeling, data analytics, and machine learning to improve the scheduling practices of hydropower operations. Each teams will receive a share of the $50,000 prize pool for their novel solutions to enhance hydropower's contribution to the electric grid. Midwest Colleges and Employers Join Forces for Solar Workforce Training With funding from EERE's Solar Energy Technologies Office, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association expanded their successful Solar Ready Wisconsin program—developing solar workforce opportunities--to include technical colleges in surrounding states. The program works with a network of colleges in the Midwest to develop training curriculum and facilitate site-based training, and job placement for newly trained solar installation professionals. Energy Cybersecurity DOE Opens Call for Deployable Solutions to Secure America's Power Grid DOE and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory announced a call for applications for the second cohort of the Clean Energy Cybersecurity Accelerator program. The program brings together federal experts, energy industry representatives, and innovators in a unified effort to rapidly develop cybersecurity solutions for renewable energy resources and to bring them to market faster.
