Larry Hutcher got his Knicks season tickets in the 1975-76 season. But now, Hutcher and the other 59 lawyers at his firm are barred from all Madison Square Garden Entertainment venues, Kris Rhim writes. That includes the Garden and its Hulu Theater, the Beacon Theatre and Radio City Music Hall, and covers everything from Disney on Ice to Harry Styles concerts to Knicks and Rangers games. |
Hutcher is representing 24 ticket resellers in a lawsuit against Madison Square Garden Entertainment. Nine days after that lawsuit was filed, Hutcher received a letter barring every lawyer at the firm from entering any of the company's venues until the litigation was resolved. |
The letter cited a New York State Bar Association rule that would prohibit anyone at the firm with knowledge of the lawsuit from talking to any Madison Square Garden employees about the litigation. |
"I had people that had tickets for Eric Clapton and concerts at the Beacon; they couldn't use them," Hutcher said. "They are angry at me. They go, 'What did we do?'" |

There isn't much better than a quadruple header of playoff baseball, which we will be getting on Saturday. The lineup: Braves-Phillies, Game 4 (2:07 p.m., FS1), Astros-Mariners, Game 3 (4:07 p.m., TBS), Yankees-Guardians, Game 3 (7:37 p.m., TBS), Dodgers-Padres, Game 4 (9:37 p.m., FS1). Depending on the results of those games, there could be as many as four games on Sunday as well. |
As the weeks of the college football season go along, the unbeaten teams start to fall away. At least three more will pick up their first losses on Saturday, because there are three matchups of ranked unbeaten teams: No. 10 Penn State at No. 5 Michigan (noon, Fox), No. 3 Alabama at No. 6 Tennessee (3:30 p.m., CBS) and No. 8 Oklahoma State at T.C.U. (3:30 p.m., ABC). |
In the N.F.L., there is just one remaining unbeaten team, the Philadelphia Eagles, who host their fierce rival the Dallas Cowboys, who are 4-1 behind their fill-in quarterback, Cooper Rush (Sunday, 8:20 p.m., NBC). |
The Major League Soccer playoffs begin this weekend with two games each on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The top two teams, Philadelphia and L.A.F.C., have byes, so the best team in action is Montreal, which hosts Orlando (Sunday, 8 p.m., ESPN). |
Also starting are the N.W.S.L. playoffs. San Diego hosts Chicago, in the pick of the two games (Sunday, 10 p.m., CBSSN). |
The World Cup of the short Twenty20 form of the sport gets underway in Australia with some early morning games, at least for American viewers. The opener is Sri Lanka-Namibia (Sunday, 12:01 a.m., ESPN+). |
