The following GAIN reports were released on April 29, 2022. _______   Canada: Grain and Feed Annual In marketing year (MY) 2022/23, production of grains is forecast to increase 30 percent year-over-year on an increase in area planted to spring wheat, durum, and oats, and on the assumption of improved soil moisture conditions resulting in higher yields. However, dry conditions persist in Alberta and Western Saskatchewan and many farmers are behind in their planting schedule, due to unfavorable planting conditions. FAS/Ottawa's total production forecast may need to be adjusted in the absence of significant spring rain in major wheat-growing areas in the prairies. The MY 2021/22 wheat ending stocks-to-use ratio is forecast to reach an 83-year low. Corn import volumes from the United States are up nearly 330 percent marketing year-to-date (August 2021 to February 2022) due to reduced domestic supplies of feed caused by drought. Keywords: wheat, corn, barley, oats, drought, feed, climate change, carbon markets   China: Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards Export Certificate Report This report lists the major registration requirements and export certificates required for food and agricultural exports to the People's Republic of China (PRC). The country's import registration and documentation requirements are frequently amended. U.S. exporters are advised to monitor the USDA Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) system for updates and to review the latest China Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) Narrative Report.   Egypt: Sugar Annual Egypt maintains a steady production of sugarcane, however sugar beet production areas are expanding. FAS Cairo (Post) forecasts refined sugar production in marketing year (MY) 2022/23 to increase by approximately 2.5 percent, or 70,000 metric tons (MT), to reach 2.92 million metric tons (MMT). The Egyptian government announced that they have reached 90 percent self-sufficiency in sugar production. The government also announced the establishment of a new developmental project in New Delta, producing strategic commodities and allocated 35,000 feddans (14,700 hectares) for sugar beet production.   France: Exporter Guide In 2020, French food and agricultural imports from the United States reached $1.32 billion. While exporting to France is complicated, there are many opportunities for U.S. suppliers. France is an important importer of U.S. fish and seafood, dried fruits and nuts, fruit juices, spirits and a variety of specialty foods including organic and kosher food products   Netherlands: Dutch Government Lays Out New Biomass Policy On April 22, 2022, the Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy, Rob Jetten, laid out the Dutch government's policy for the application of biomass to the Dutch Parliament. The Cabinet will support the application of biomass for high value applications, uses which have no renewable alternative, and applications by which carbon is stored. The Cabinet confirmed it will phase out its support for the applications for low value purposes (i.e., biopower and low temperature heat) and will advocate for stricter sustainability criteria at the EU level. The Cabinet indicated it will no longer aim to limit the sourcing of biomass to EU sources. U.S. wood pellet exports to the Netherlands totaled $223 million in 2021.   Peru: Coffee Annual Coffee production in MY 2022/2023 is forecast at 4.03 million 60-kilogram bags, an increase of two percent from the previous year. Peru's coffee exports in MY 2022/2023 are forecast at 3.95 million 60-kilogram bags, a slight increase from the previous year. The United States continued to be the top market for Peruvian coffee.   Taiwan: Taiwan Temporarily Relaxes HPAI Restrictions on Poultry Imports Effective April 18, 2022, Taiwan temporarily modified its restrictions on imports of poultry and poultry products from the United States and Canada impacted by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). The modification allows imports of poultry and poultry products from banned U.S. states if the date of slaughter is 14 days or more before the applicable HPAI ban began.   Thailand: Rice Price - Weekly Despite the weakening of the Thai baht to a four-month low, rice export prices increased 1-3 percent as exporters sought rice supplies to fulfill contracted shipments.   For more information, or for an archive of all FAS GAIN reports, please visit gain.fas.usda.gov/.
