Employment with the United States Attorney's Office offers a unique and challenging experience for the highly motivated attorney. The Asset Recovery Division pursues affirmative civil enforcement in a variety of fraud matters, seeks forfeiture of proceeds and property involved in all categories of federal criminal conduct and collects debts owed to the United States.

Assistant United States Attorneys in the Asset Recovery Division are responsible for representing the United States and its agencies in civil and criminal litigation proceedings. Specifically, they commence civil litigation on behalf of the United States in such areas as asset forfeiture, health care and government programs fraud, civil rights, financial litigation, and bankruptcy.

In addition, they enforce asset forfeiture and financial litigation claims in criminal cases commenced by the United States. They are also active at both the trial and appellate levels.

Duties include coordinating with client agencies in financial investigations, filing complaints, taking depositions, preparing and answering discovery demands, negotiating settlements, engaging in motion practice, conducting trials, providing support to criminal AUSAs in asset forfeiture and restitution matters, and writing and arguing appeals.

The District is currently seeking one (1) attorney to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Asset Recovery Division.  Based on staffing needs, additional appointments may be made from this announcement.
