Job Title:  Assistant Attorney General (Senior Counsel) Position Type:  Regular Full-Time

Location: Office of the Attorney General, Department of Human Services  311 W. Saratoga St., Baltimore, Maryland 21201

Description:  The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for an Assistant Attorney General to represent the Department of Human Services in Child in Need of Assistance ("CINA") and Termination of Parental Rights ("TPR") appellate litigation in the Court of Special Appeals and the Court of Appeals.

The attorney participates in the coordination of appellate litigation of CINA and TPR cases originated by local departments of social services throughout the State. The position also participates in the coordination of the briefing, scheduling and argument of appeals by attorneys in the DHS/OAG and personally handles their own substantial caseload of appeals; provides advice on a frequent basis to the Social Services Administration on child welfare issues and to attorneys for the local departments who handle the cases in the trial courts; reviews proposed legislation as requested and assists the Department in drafting legislation involving CINA and TPR matters.
