BREAKING: Senate passes stopgap government funding bill to avert shutdown; Biden expected to sign
The Senate acted quickly Thursday to pass a short-term government spending bill that will push the funding deadline to Feb. 18. Biden is expected to sign the legislation. A trio of Republican senators had threatened to delay the vote and force a government shutdown as part of a crusade against Covid vaccine mandates. Ultimately, the Senate defeated the amendment seeking to block Covid vaccine mandates.
