News from the Library of Congress Native American Heritage Month, Ken Burns Prize, & More! Meet Kaffie Milikin and the Friends of the Library of Congress Kaffie Milikin, the Library's development director, talked about the new Friends of the Library of Congress program in the latest issue of the Library of Congress Magazine.  "Although the U.S. Congress has been the Library's largest benefactor, support from the private sector amplifies the Library's core mission," she said. "It allows the Library to reach a bit further, stretch in new directions without sacrificing what it does best — preserving and providing access to a rich, diverse and enduring source of knowledge to inform, inspire and engage people everywhere in intellectual and creative pursuits." Read more about Kaffie and the Friends of the Library of Congress.  Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize for Film The Librarian of Congress and Ken Burns announced the 2021 Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize for Film winner and runner-up at a virtual awards ceremony on October 26. The hour-long ceremony featured excerpts from the six finalist films and a discussion focusing on the acclaimed documentary, "John Lewis: Good Trouble" directed by Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize National Jury Member and award-winning filmmaker Dawn Porter in conversation with Dr. Hayden, Ken Burns and moderated by PBS NewsHour's Yamiche Alcindor.
