BREAKING: Jan. 6 committee votes to refer Trump adviser Steve Bannon to Justice Dept. to face criminal contempt charges
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol voted on Tuesday to advance a measure that would refer Steve Bannon, a political adviser to former President Donald Trump, to the Justice Department to face criminal contempt charges after he refused to comply with demands for documents and testimony. The recommendation must be voted on by the House, and the DOJ would have to agree to press charges, which would be unprecedented.
