The race to replace Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., offers Democrats perhaps their best opportunity to preserve or expand a fragile majority in the Senate. One frontrunner in the Democratic primary hopes a centrist outlook wins him the ticket while the other hopes to win over voters via a working-class wardrobe and crusade to legalize weed — but both are fighting for support in a state where voters have a habit of rewarding candidates who search for the middle ground.
