Overlooking child trauma: Was 'unconscious bias' a factor in Chauvin's sentencing?
Prosecutors in Derek Chauvin's sentencing argued the trauma caused to children at the scene of George Floyd's murder was enough to give Chauvin a prison sentence above the minimum guidelines. Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill disagreed. Experts have questioned that call and whether Cahill was equipped to make the determination at all.
