Nearly 25 years ago, a kids TV show challenged America's depictions of the Vietnam War
A 1996 episode of "Hey Arnold!," a Nickelodeon kids show, depicted the 1975 fall of Saigon, South Vietnam, and a family's forced separation — at a time when the Vietnamese experience was largely ignored in mainstream pop culture. Creator Craig Bartlett talked to NBC Asian America about the creation of a storyline that, nearly 25 years later, still resonates with a generation of Asian Americans.
