He was offered a job as a New Orleans police officer. Then came queries about his gender.
As a trans man, Britton Hamilton said he wanted to become a police officer to help promote change from the inside. But his offer from the New Orleans Police Department was rescinded after a psychological exam in which he was asked about his transition. Trans law enforcement officers say Hamilton's case isn't unique and highlights the need for policy reform within police departments nationwide.
