BJS RELEASES REPORTS ON LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING ACADEMIES; JUSTICE EXPENDITURES AND EMPLOYMENT

            WASHINGTON—The Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics today released State and Local Law Enforcement Training Academies, 2018 – Statistical Tables. This report present findings on law enforcement recruits, instructors and types of training at state and local law enforcement training academies in 2018. BJS has also reissued State and Local Law Enforcement Training Academies, 2013 using a revised survey weighting methodology.

        BJS also released Justice Expenditures and Employment in the United States, 2017. This report presents estimates of federal, state and local government expenditures and employment for police protection, all judicial and legal functions (including prosecution, courts and public defense) and corrections. BJS also released expenditure and employment preliminary extract tables for 2017, final extracts for 2016 and revised extracts for 2012 through 2015, reflecting updates made by the Census Bureau.
