Resilient Wisconsin New Training Materials for First Responders Resilient Wisconsin has created training materials to help first responders cope with the pressure of their jobs. First responder leaders and trainers can use the materials to help their crews and staff learn how to cope with toxic stress and secondary trauma. The video and toolkit addresses how things like toxic stress and adverse childhood experiences lead to secondary trauma, and how that trauma can make life even more difficult for first responders.  The video shows simple resilience exercises and tips. The toolkit provides resources that can help first responders.  The new training materials are available on the Resilient Wisconsin: Secondary Trauma page on the DHS website. Participants will be asked to complete a pre-training survey to gain access to the training materials and a post-training survey to provide feedback on their experience. Completion of the post-training survey earns you a digital certificate of training completion. Data shows that sleep deprivation, substance use, and suicide rates are higher among first responders than many other occupations. But with these training materials, we can help the many Wisconsinites who are on the front lines protecting us and keeping us healthy and safe.
