BREAKING: Senate report cites Capitol Police failure to respond to threats ahead of Jan. 6 riot

Capitol Police knew Trump supporters were planning to infiltrate the Capitol complex and target Democratic members of Congress on Jan. 6, but failed to act on those threats, according to a new Senate report released Tuesday citing what it says were profound intelligence and security failures.

Through tips from the public and other sources, the Capitol Police "knew about social media posts calling for violence at the Capitol on January 6, including a plot to breach the Capitol, the online sharing of maps of the Capitol Complex's tunnel systems, and other specific threats of violence," the report said.
