The Resident Legal Advisor (RLA) will represent the U.S. Department of Justice and OPDAT at U.S. Embassy Valletta by providing assistance to the government of Malta to counter illicit finance regimes. The RLA will also provide support to the government of Cyprus to counter money laundering and financial crime, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia. The program will focus on the support and development of effective anti-corruption and anti-money laundering capacity through the establishment of policies and procedures necessary to effectively prevent and respond to illicit finance activity. Completion of these activities will include partnerships with local officials, international donors, and interagency partners. The RLA will also have regional responsibilities in the Mediterranean, to be determined.
