The Complaint Adjudication Officer is responsible for issuing final decisions for the Department of Justice (Department) in administrative cases filed under Section 717 of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. 2000e-16, Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. 791, Section 15 of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, 29 U.S.C 633a, and Title II of Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, 42 U.S. Code § 2000ff.
The incumbent oversees the Complaint Adjudication Office and is responsible for duties such as, but not limited to:
- Issuing decisions regarding complaints of discrimination, class action certifications, class relief, and attorney's fees.
- Supervising and managing the work workflow of attorneys. This includes reviewing and editing all draft decisions to ensure that they appropriately reflect the investigative record and are consistent with relevant law.
- Managing the daily operations of the office, including ensuring that all administrative, personnel, and budgetary requirements are followed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
