THE BIG STORY
At least eight people died in a mass shooting in Indianapolis
This is still a developing story, and there is a lot more detail to come. But what we know so far: At least eight people died in a shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis.
A spokesperson for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department told reporters in the early hours of Friday that police responded to a report of shots fired at the facility, near the city's airport, just after 11 p.m. local time on Thursday.
It is not yet clear how many people were injured in the shooting. Police believe the alleged shooter killed himself after officers arrived on the scene. Authorities said anyone unable to contact a family member who works at the FedEx facility should gather at a local Holiday Inn Express, and a local paper reported that the hotel was "packed" with people anxiously awaiting news.
It's the latest in a spate of high-profile mass shootings in the US that has killed dozens. We'll update the story regularly, so check in with BuzzFeedNews.com throughout the day. The scene outside a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. Mykal Mceldowney / Reuters. STAYING ON TOP OF THIS
Video shows 13-year-old Adam Toledo had his hands up when an officer fatally shot him
In Chicago, there have been weeks of protest over the police killing of 13-year-old boy Adam Toledo, and demands to release the body camera footage to the public.
On Thursday, the city's Civilian Office of Police Accountability posted the videos online along with other recordings and police reports related to the shooting.
The videos show that the 13-year-old boy who was shot and killed in Chicago by a police officer had his hands up when the cop fired his weapon. Adeena Weiss-Ortiz, the Toledo family's attorney, said what the videos showed amounted to an "assassination."
"If you're shooting an unarmed child with his hands in the air, it is an assassination," she said. SNAPSHOTS
Asian women don't feel safe in public. Now some are carrying self-defense weapons. A growing number of Asian American women say they've equipped themselves with self-defense items as more anti-Asian crimes have been reported. They've strapped themselves with noisemakers, pepper spray, metal knuckle rings, and, in some cases, Tasers and stun guns.

Here's what really happened when Anne Hathaway and James Franco "bombed" while hosting the "worst Oscars in history." The team working behind the Oscars telecast in 2011, which has since gone down as one of the more awkward nights in the award show's history, have opened up about what was really happening behind the scenes at the time.

Drag Race was a drag for a while. Now it's better than ever.
At this point, RuPaul's Drag Race has been on for over a decade. And for a long stretch of that, it suffered from mediocre seasons. Well, all of that is over now — Drag Race has stepped it up this season.
As Shannon Keating writes, "RuPaul will crown America's next drag superstar on April 23, and she'll be selecting from the strongest top four the franchise has seen in years."
After a particularly disastrous last season, Drag Race cleared the slate and the show reinvented itself. But not it's not just the show that is nailing it.
Here's more of Keating's piece: "RuPaul has finally worked on his odious views about trans competitors and expanded the show's working definition of 'drag' to well beyond mere 'female illusion.' Gone are the days when Ru would get annoyed about seeing too much of someone's 'boy body.' Now, cis and trans contestants alike are bringing more androgyny and gender-bending to the main stage — and the show is so much richer for it." Khloé Kardashian plays a role in perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards. Why won't she admit that? It's hard to buy Khloé's attempts at body positivity when she and her family profit from women feeling bad about themselves. Shannon Keating writes that "she isn't so much interested in abolishing the 'perfect mold' as she is in avoiding negative feedback for contorting herself into it."
