Vaccines are working. The latest surge in Covid cases proves that.

People under 60 account for the majority of new Covid-19 cases across the country — likely a testament to the success of the vaccines. More than 73 percent of people over age 65 have received at least one dose, but the number of Covid cases is rising in younger, unvaccinated people. The trend toward younger patients with milder illness may lessen the burden on hospitals.
