Their complaints against Derek Chauvin, the officer who knelt on George Floyd, were dismissed. Now they wonder: Could he have been stopped?

In November 2013, Minneapolis police used excessive force on LaSean Braddock after they pulled him over, according to a complaint he filed. More than six years later, Braddock saw one of those officers again as he watched a harrowing video of George Floyd's final moments. Derek Chauvin, Braddock said, was one of the officers who had treated him roughly.

"It's unfortunate that they didn't do anything to Derek Chauvin," Braddock said. "If they had done something about it, it might not have went that far."
