Eight Michigan employers receive Healthy Michigan Worksite Awards

LANSING, Mich. – Eight Michigan employers recently received Healthy Michigan Worksite awards for efforts made to improve the health of their workforce.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Michigan Healthy Worksite Award recognizes employers who are utilizing the Designing Healthy Environments at Work tools and actively investing in wellness programs. The awardees have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the culture of health within their workplace by focusing on the work environment along with organizational practices and policies.

Furthermore, these organizations persisted in implementing workplace wellbeing solutions to support employees during the challenges presented by COVID-19.

"These organizations serve as models for other Michigan businesses by taking proactive measures to develop and promote a culture of health," said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, MDHHS chief medical executive and chief deputy director for health. "Companies implement a variety of initiatives including mental health resources, wellness-focused events and strive to enhance workplace safety. Their efforts are paying off in improved employee wellbeing, more effective management of healthcare costs and the ability to attract and retain top talent."

Awards are presented to worksites meeting defined criteria for Honorable Mention, Bronze, Silver or Gold status (no organizations met Silver status criteria for 2020).
