Mar 05, 2021 Danger zone: Creator behind viral Tom Cruise deepfakes says they're a warning Chris Ume, the Belgian visual effects artist behind a series of Tom Cruise deepfakes, said in an interview that he didn't mean to fool anyone. Instead, he hopes the videos, which have garnered more than 11 million views on TikTok, are helping bring greater awareness to the dangers of deepfake technology that has emerged in recent years and continues to evolve and improve. "If I can help in creating awareness, or even work on detection in the future, I would love to," Ume said.
