The following Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) reports were released on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.    Japan: MAFF Invites Comments for Amendment to Feed Safety Handling Procedures for Genome Edited Feed and Feed Additives On February 4, 2021, Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) opened a public comment period for a proposed amendment to the handling of crossbred progeny in the Feed Safety Handling Procedures for Genome Edited Feed and Feed Additives. If adopted, MAFF would not require developers of products derived from the crossbreeding of genome edited varieties previously notified to MAFF to complete MAFF's consultation process for genome edited products or notify the final product to MAFF. The comment period will close on March 5, 2021 and comments must be in Japanese. Jordan: FAIRS Export Certificate Report This FAIRS report lists the export certificates required for food and agricultural products shipped to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. An export certificate matrix is included in this report. The requirements listed herein are specific for consignments coming directly from the United States to Jordan or transshipped in a sealed container with invoices stating that Jordan is the final destination. Sri Lanka: FAIRS Country Report Several laws govern food imports to Sri Lanka. Food Act No. 26 of 1980, Animal Feed Act No. 15 of 1986, Plant Protection Act No. 35 of 1999, and Import and Export Control Act No. 1 of 1969 are the main laws that govern these imports. The responsibility of import regulation is in the hands of several state institutions, making the process complicated and time consuming. The regulations are comprehensive and restrict trade. While some regulations have been in place for decades, new regulations are in the pipeline. In meeting the commitments of the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Sri Lanka is in the process of streamlining the processes of regulatory authorities. To streamline import and export trading processes, Sri Lanka has initiated two online platforms: Sri Lanka Trade Information Portal and National Single Window. Sri Lanka: FAIRS Export Certificate Report   This FAIRS report lists the export certificates required for food and agricultural products shipped to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka). An export certificate matrix is included in this report.
