Highlights are below. Union membership declines by 321,000 in 2020; union membership rate is 10.8% 01/22/2021 The number of wage and salary workers belonging to unions declined by 321,000 to 14.3 million in 2020. The union membership rate was 10.8 percent, up by 0.5 percentage point from 2019, reflecting the much larger decline in employment among nonunion workers. HTML | PDF | RSS
