After vast majority of Capitol mob walks free, feds struggle to identify suspects dispersed across the country

Hundreds of Trump supporters are in the crosshairs of local and federal law enforcement after they were allowed to leave the Capitol and carry on demonstrating. Investigators face the massive undertaking of identifying and tracking down people from all over the country.

But questions linger as to why authorities weren't better prepared to seal off the building — and why more wasn't done to arrest the members of the pro-Trump mob as they left.
