The Executive Office for United States Trustees (EOUST), Office of Oversight is seeking an experienced attorney to provide expert legal advice on a wide range of chapter 11 issues to field-based personnel and to senior managers. The attorney will serve as the Deputy Assistant Director for Small Business Reorganization and Family Farmer Relief providing planning, development, implementation and coordination of USTP initiatives.
As a Trial Attorney (Deputy Assistant Director), GS-0905-15, duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as a member of a cohesive and collegial team of experienced attorneys based in Office of Oversight.
- Providing legal advice and counsel for developing and implementing policies and strategies in regulatory, legislative, and bankruptcy matters.
- Leading a nationwide program to recruit, develop, maintain and supervise pools of subchapter V trustees and leading recruitment and supervision of standing and case by case chapter 12 trustees.
- Developing and interpreting component-level policy with regard to Civil Enforcement and related legal matters.
- Advising on questions of law involved in the operations of the organization.
- Leading, organizing and preparing material for training and conferences.
- Serving as a legal consultant and expert on issues regarding program operations and interpretation of statute and regulations.
- Analyzing legal, regulatory and policy issues in assigned matters and identifying program weaknesses, problems and the need for changes.
- Developing policy, programs and procedures affecting sensitive and politically significant elements of the National Bankruptcy System.
- Reviewing legislative proposals and provding comments and recommendations.
- Preparing congressional testimony for high level Department of Justice officials.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
