Join us to learn about the provider's role in implementing two critical requirements of the HCBS settings rule for Mainers utilizing waiver services:

  • What does the HCBS settings rule say about how person-centered planning and the writing of person-centered plans must be done to be in full compliance with the rule? What specific actions by Case Managers/Care Coordinators are expected to ensure the spirit and intent of the HCBS settings rule is realized and related requirements for person-centered planning are met? What is the provider's role in participating with the Case Managers/Care Coordinators to ensure the spirit and intent of the HCBS settings rule is realized and related requirements for person-centered planning are met?  This webinar offers more information on the HCBS settings rule and specifically addresses the requirement for ensuring every waiver participant has an opportunity to make an informed choice regarding the setting(s) where HCBS is provided, which includes ensuring choice of non-disability specific settings is offered in order to facilitate optimal connections with members of the broader community.
  • What rights for Mainers utilizing waiver services are made available through the HCBS settings rule? When is a modification of these rights permissible? Which rights can be modified? What do Case Managers/Care Coordinators and HCBS Providers need to know and do when a Team is considering a modification to a right assured under the HCBS settings rule? What must Providers do when implementing an HCBS rights modification included in a waiver participant's person-centered plan? This webinar will also review the interface between HCBS rights modifications and the Behavior Regulations (14-197 CMR ch.5) for individuals receiving Section 21/29.
