Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday that the Russian government is "pretty clearly" behind a broadscale hack on U.S. government agencies and security firms. Pompeo called the campaign, which is known to have affected the departments of Energy and Commerce as well as a number of high-profile cybersecurity firms, "a very significant effort" and said the U.S. can say Russia was behind the effort. Pompeo, who is the highest-ranking U.S. official to point a finger at Russia, made the comments in an interview with conservative radio host Mark Levin, a transcript of which was posted to the State Department's website. |
